Refute Your Disrepute
Step away for a moment from the mentality that has you listing your strengths and weaknesses. (Stepping away from that mentality for longer than a moment is a very good idea, but that is a topic for another day.)
Consider that what you and others think of as your “weakness” may be a powerful clue to the strength that is at the center of who you are—what I call your genius.
It surprises and delights most people when I ask them to examine their weaknesses for clues to their genius. I refer to the process as Refute Your Disrepute, and have published an exercise here to help you do it. The exercise is adapted from my forthcoming book, Is Your Genius at Work? (November, 2005)
