Catching Up with Me and Jay Leno
Whew! In the last several weeks I completed two 2500 word articles, and it has been a challenge to keep up with my patch of the blogosphere as well. The first article, Is Your Genius On Purpose, has already been published by ASTD, the second has been submitted to another magazine for publication in the Spring. This latter article is addressed to people who consult to management. It is about the how and why of helping clients shift their energy in order to solve problems and respond to challenges. I’ll post here when it is published.
I was scheduled to do a syndicated radio show last Saturday but got bumped because the host landed Jay Leno for the show. Imagine that—Jay Leno instead of me! I’ll be on the show in a few weeks and will let you know if and where you can tune in. I’m OK with getting bumped. Hey, how many people get to have Jay Leno as their warm-up act? This is the second time that I have been bumped from a radio show. About ten years ago I got ousted in favor of Jerry Lewis. Maybe I should try to be funnier?
Lisa Haneberg created two posts at ThirdAge, Part 1 and Part 2, in which she uses Is Your Genius At Work? to explore her genius. It is really gratifying to see my work extended in that way, and Lisa seems very close to recognizing her genius (Lisa—you may want a Part 3). She finished her series with this: I am still getting into it, but I can see that Dick is on to something very interesting. Yep!
It is a delight when a book reviewer “gets it”. Kirkus Reviews said this about the book: A delightful and entertaining read in which the spiritual meets the practical as soul-searching turns out to be the best career-building resource available.
You are invited! Judi Neal called from Spirit At Work to schedule a teleconference for March. Details later. And I’ll be doing an interview with Yvonne DeVita at Lip-Sticking and a podcast with Don Blohowiak at Leadership Now. Again, details later.
In case you missed them, three friends who have long recognized their geniuses wrote guest posts here about their experience: Jesse Freese, Roy Blumenthal, and Debbie Call. I love that they were willing to do that, not just because it is great for the book, but also because going public with your genius deepens your ownership of it. Other friends have promised more posts like those three.
Thanks to all of you for your help carrying the message.
I am now firmly back in my blog saddle, so expect a flurry of posts.
